3 Tips for Staying Hydrated This Summer

The season us heat lovers, beach lovers, and longer day lovers have all been waiting for is here! SUMMER.

Summer is a time for taking off work to vacation with family or friends. It’s the time when chilling by the pool becomes your new weekly favorite, and ice-cold lemonade is must.

But the summer heat is not just a mascot for the fun summer activities we all grew to love growing up. With the high temperatures also comes the higher risk of dehydration. It's for this reason that as we embark on this glimmering and gleeful season, we should all keep in mind the importance of staying hydrated.

But here's the thing - time flies when you’re having fun! And as we go about enjoying all the summer delights, we often forget to stay hydrated. So, here are a few tips and tricks to help you stay hydrated and refreshed during all your summer adventures!

1. Fruits & Vegetables, and More Fruits & Vegetables

Did you know you can get a significant portion of your water intake by eating fruits and vegetables that are largely composed of water?

Get some of your water intake by enjoying these yummy fruits and vegetables - cucumbers, celery, tomatoes, radishes, peppers, cauliflower, watermelon, spinach, strawberries, broccoli, and grapefruit.

Don’t want to eat them solid? – Put them in a blender and whip up a tasty smoothie!

2.The Water Option

Who else enjoys traveling in the summer? Next time you book into your Airbnb, Hotel, or take a seat on your flight, remember to take advantage of the available options for a water beverage.

3. Flavor it Up

The taste of water not exciting enough for you? Flavor it up with natural flavor packets!

Some of the top named brands you can check out are True Lemon, Ultima Replenisher, Amazing Grass, and Hint (see Citations below for additional brands recommended by a licensed dietician).
